It all starts with a seed!

Literally- Depending on what you want to grow in your garden or really, how much space you have to grow your garden will limit what you plant.  Choose carefully.  Plant what your family likes to eat and plant the more expensive vegetables and fruits.  If you have the extra space you may also want to plant some grain.

Finding seeds can be difficult depending on where you live.  Sure you can go down to the local super store and buy a package of seeds that you hope are not from three years ago.  But we are talking about growing on a different level.  We are talking about growing to feed your family, reduce environmental impacts and to maybe even make a little extra money.

Below is a list of seed resources that I have found for high quality, sometime hard to find, rare or unusual seeds.  Many have organic seeds and or heirloom seeds.

If you can, please try to support local seed growers or Texas based companies first. If we all make the effort to support local companies our communities will grow stronger.

We listed the seed companies by state so you can shop closest to where you live.
